The third scene of The Story of the Jews is probably the best-known part of the Old Testament narrative. Let's imagine that the screen has gone to black after Joseph and his brothers have made Egypt their temporary refuge. Then, on the screen, a title appears. It says, “400 years later.” Scene Three tells the story of the Jews leaving Egypt and heading back to the Promised Land of Canaan. It begins with the 10 plagues and the Passover. Moses leads the Jewish people, now some three million strong, out of Egypt, across the Red Sea (on dry land) and to Mt. Sinai where God delivers the Law. Due to a lack of belief, the Israelites wander the deserts of Arabia instead of enjoying the abundance of Canaan.
