Every great story has a great ending. If God: the Movie had ended after Act One, the ending would not have been that great. If the story had ended after Act Two, the ending would have been good; but not necessarily great. But this is a three-act story and the third act provides the greatest ending of any story in history. The return of Christ is followed by a number of “new” things. The present earth and universe are replaced. In the “twinkling of an eye” the existing universe is allowed to come undone and instantaneously a new universe is re-created. In this new universe, there is no more pain, suffering, dying, or pain, because those experiences were part of an old order that passes away. The picture of life in this future existence is nearly beyond our comprehension. This is a world where contact with God is always a reality and where fullness of joy is experienced forever.
As our story comes to an end, I can imagine a final fade to black and a final “card.” On it appear the words of the Prophet Isaiah, “Of the increase of his government, and peace, there will be no end.” And as the words appear on the screen, a voice…maybe The Voice, says, “Come…The Spirit and the Bride say ‘Come!’” Then as the words on the card fade to black, two words come onto the black screen: The Beginning.
