A Message From Bob Beltz, creator of God - The Movie |
 |
Welcome to God – the Movie. I’m Bob Beltz and I want to give you seven reasons why you should keep reading this page and take the time to watch the videos contained on this site:
1. God: the Movie will “fast-track” you through the “Big Story” of the Bible
2. It is an incredible beginner’s orientation to the Bible.
3. It approaches the Bible chronologically. (Did you know your Bible is not arranged chronologically?)
4. It highlights the fascinating history of the story. (One story from Genesis to Revelation!)
5. It is fast and easy - the entire Bible in only four hours!
6. It is self-paced - hit the pause button and proceed as your time permits.
7. It is fun!
If I have sparked your interest, let me tell you a little more about the site.
You are about to enter into a journey through the Bible that is unique in its approach. As you watch the videos contained on this site, you will be told the story of God as if it were a Hollywood screenplay. This approach is the result of a combined lifetime of experience as both a student and teacher of the Bible, and ten years as a writer and film producer. To tell the story, I have extracted what screenwriters call the “narrative” from the larger body of documents contained in the Bible. I found that I could tell the entire narrative using only fifteen of the sixty-six books. All other biblical content fits somewhere inside this narrative. I have used the screenwriting terms “spine” to talk about the story line, and will repeatedly comment on how certain other books or documents “hang on the spine.”
The lectures are organized around a three-act story structure. Act One contains "The Story of the Jews." This act is found in eleven historical books of the Old Testament. Act One sets up Act Two, which contains "The Story of Jesus". Using two of the four Gospels, and the book of Acts, I will explain the main story line in the life of Jesus in the flesh, followed by the first thirty years of Jesus as he lives and works through the New Testament church. Finally, the story will reach its climax and resolution in Act Three, which is completely contained in the final document in the New Testament: the book of Revelation. This is "The Story of the Future."
When it is all put together, you have an amazing story that begins in Genesis, and using classic story structure, will take you through the end of Revelation.
Whether you are a person of faith, or just someone who is curious to gain a better understanding of the book that has been the foundation of Western Civilization, I hope you find God – the Movie to be helpful and stimulating.
